We all know that coconut oil is great for our body, but this multi-talented superhero can do much more for your health than you might think!

A few years ago, coconut oil was considered to be a fat causing heart disease, now it is proclaimed as “the healthiest oil on earth“. How did that come about? Coconut oil is a saturated oil, which were understood to raise blood cholesterol and cause heart disease. But the essential fatty acids in coconut oil metabolizes very differently when compared to other saturated fats such as those contained in most meat and dairy products.

Most of the fatty acids in your diet are long-chained (LCT), coconut oil, however, contains a unique form of fatty acids known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). Unlike other saturated fats, MCTs provide an energy source for the body rather than being stored. The fatty acids in coconut oil are shorter and more water-soluble than those in other oils, such as olive oil. MCTs go straight to the liver from the digestive tract, where they are used as a quick source of energy or turned into so-called ketones. This fact has a lot of benefits:


 Coconut Oil can boost your energy levels

The human body does not store digested MCTs as fat, but instead converts them into energy. Imagine your body as a finely tuned, well-oiled machine, running smoothly!  So, how much coconut oil should you consume per day? Add two to three tablespoons of coconut oil to your daily diet. That’s enough. When consumed in the morning, coconut oil can boost your energy levels for a very long period (that’s why the “bulletproof coffee“ works).


 Coconut Oil Helps To Stabilize Your Blood-Sugar

What is the best way to stabilize the blood sugar? Healthy fats! Coconut oil is a source of instant energy, much like carbohydrates. But, unlike carbs, coconut oil does not produce an insulin spike in your bloodstream. This saves you from a slump, and is really good news for anyone struggling with insulin issues. The right amount of coconut oil per day can actually help your body to maintain stable blood-sugar levels.

After two tablespoons of coconut oil I’m not hungry any more and my cravings are totally gone. It satisfies and fills you up, immediately. Add two to three tablespoons of coconut oil to your meals each day and you will forget about snacking all the time between meals.

Below are some photos from my sister’s engagement – We had this event on 25/11/2017, it was amazing, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I had such a beautiful night w/ family + friends & Dean’s (my sisters partner) family who are now apart of ours.

I got my hair done bright + early, than my make up, than dressed to attend the venue, I only sat when there was food, other than that I was on the dance floor or night 🙂

Sleeping on your Left Side

We all know, that enough sleep is important to maintain our health. Now, new studies have shown, that our sleeping position may be another crucial factor in the quest for optimum wellbeing…


What side do you usually sleep on? On the right or on the left? Interestingly, experts found that when you sleep on your left side, you contribute to the health of many of your organs. By sleeping on the left side you support your organs activity. Among other functions, you improve your blood circulation and digestion. For many people, sleeping on the left side may be the ticket to better health and better sleep.


 Benefits of sleeping on the left side:


Improves digestion

The stomach and the pancreas (which make digestive enzymes) are on the left side. When they are lying on their natural side, digestion can work properly. The right side is unnatural for these organs, which which will make the digestive tract having a hard time doing its job. When you lie on your left side, the food is encouraged to move through the stomach naturally and the pancreatic enzymes are released when they´re needed rather than being released all at once. That will happen more easily, than, when lying on the right side with the pull of gravity.


 Helps you detox & supports lymphatic system

The left side of the body is the dominant lymphatic side (the body’s first detox system). While you’re sleeping on this side, your body will have more time to filter toxins, lymph fluid, and waste. The lymphatic system also carries important elements like proteins, glucose, metabolites and elements that must be filtered by the lymph nodes and that have to be drained to the left side. Furthermore, new research has found that sleeping on the left side can allow the body to clear waste chemicals from the brain more efficiently. In contrast, sleeping on your right side decreases the lymphatic system’s efficacy.


 Good for your heart

As we know, the heart is on the left side of the body and through the simple act of sleeping on the left side, we will benefit its health in a simple and natural way — mostly thanks to the lymphatic system which cleanses easier in this position. Another aspect to consider is, that the aorta leaves our heart making an arc to the left in order to reach the abdomen. If we sleep on the left side, our heart will pump more easily and efficiently.


Better naps

In Ayurveda, it is a common practice to rest on the left side of the body after taking a heavy meal. Ayurveda suggests a short, ten-minute rest on the left side to help the body digest. You will wake up more energized and without a bellyache. Just give it a try!


 Promotes spleen health

The spleen, which is also a basic part of the lymphatic system, is also on the left side. This organ is much like a gigantic lymph node, except that in addition to filtering lymph nodes it also filters blood. When you lie on the left side, drainage back to the spleen is once again supported by gravity. Sleeping on the left side, will also direct our fluids to the spleen in a simpler way, supporting the natural sense of gravity in our body.


 When pregnant, improves blood flow to the fetus

Sleeping on the left side is often recommended during pregnancy. It prevents the uterus from applying pressure to the liver, it is beneficial to circulation, improves blood flow to the fetus, the uterus, and the kidneys. Plus, it takes pressure off the back, which may alleviate typical pregnancy-related back pain.

Beauty Hacks Before Bed

Don’t sleep on your stomach!

What kind of sleeping position do you have? If you are a stomach or side sleeper, I got bad news for you! Sleeping like this can actually cause bags under your eyes because fluid tends to collect in that area (Imagine all of that weight on your face). Avoid this and sleep on your back. Also try putting more pillows under your head. This will allow the fluid in your face to drain instead of collecting and sitting all night.


Get a new Pillowcase

Studies have shown that cotton pillow cases cause creases on your skin and create wrinkles. Satin ones, on the other hand, don’t. They absorb moisture and adjusts to all temperatures (warm in winter, cool in summer). Silk pillow cases will not only lessen the pressure on your skin, but will also help reduce the amount of hair breakage, plus your hair stays soft and static free as you sleep.


Lengthen Your Lashes

You want longer lashes? Then apply castor oil from root to tip of your lashes before you go to sleep. This natural oil is rich in super-hydrating omega-6 fatty acids, which help moisturize your lashes and prevent breakage (it can also be used for eyebrows). Leave it on overnight and when you wake up in the morning wash it off with warm water before washing your face.


Whiten your teeth

Try baking soda before bed. But just be sure to only do it once a week or you could damage your teeth. Brush your teeth as normal, then just dip your toothbrush in baking soda and brush your teeth one more time. Leave the mixture on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly. It’s a great overnight treatment because you’d normally have to wait an hour before eating or drinking anything.


Rejuvenate your skin overnight

For your face: Use a small drop of vitamin E oil under your night cream. For your Body: Use olive oil and massage it into your skin before going to bed. Your skin will be grateful.


 Avoid heavy meals before bed

You’ll be doing your body the most favors if you drink lots of water and don’t eat a heavy meal before bed. Keep dinner light and try to avoid alcohol, sugar and too much salt.


Nourish Your Hair

Before you go to bed apply some leave-in conditioner to your hair and let it soak in all night. It’s the perfect time for your hair to soak in that extra moisture that it needs. Your hair will feel much more hydrated and healthy when you wake up in the morning and if it looks a little greasy, just wash it out when you take a shower.


Wake up sun-kissed

Before your bed time routine, exfoliate your skin, moisturize and apply some false tan. Go to be and you’ll wake up with a sun-kissed glow.


Eye Care

Do you constantly wake up with dark circles under your eyes? Apply a small amount of almond oil under your eyes to treat dark circles and fines lines. The oil is very nourishing and can take great care for the sensitive area under your eyes, so you will wake up looking fresh and rejuvenated!


Split ends

Get rid of dry and crunchy hair! Before going to bed just apply some leave in conditioner or argan oil to your hair and let it soak in all night.


Get Volume!

After showering at night, pull your hair up into a high, loose bun and secure with a soft elastic or headband (tight plastic ones may create creases). So when you wake up and take it down, you’ll have amazing volume and soft waves.


 Try to sleep for at least 7-8 hours every night

When you don’t get enough sleep, you wake up with red eyes and tired skin – it sags, loses its glow and you get bags. Your blood vessels dilate and you’re extra stressed throughout the day. So be sure to get your beauty sleep!
