Daily Blog – 04/05/2016 // MSG

Do you know what MSG stands for?

Do you know what it is?

Do you know that it is in 70% of peoples diet?

Are we aware of this?

My thoughts are… NOO!

MSG, or Monosodium Glutamate is a salt of the amino acid – Glutamic Acid (glutamate).

MSG is an excitotoxin, which means it overexcited your cells to the point of damage or death, causing brain damage to varying degrees.

Glutamate is just one of many amino acids used by the body and linked into the chains of protein in the body.  However some amino acids are free to float around by themselves as well as being found linked into proteins because they serve vital functions – some are neurotransmitters which carry nerve cell impulses throughout the body.  Amino acid neurotransmitters are like chemical messengers carrying news from nerve cell to nerve cell.   Some amino acid neurotransmitters like glutamate trigger nerve cells to fire, others like taurine and gamma amino butyric acid tell those firing nerve cells to cease firing.  It is a delicate balance, an important balance.  Researchers are finding out just what happens when that balance tips, for example in patients who suffer a stroke, an excess of glutamate in the brain causes the nerve cells to die from overstimulation, glutamate blocking drugs are being used to prevent some of this damage.

MSG is in A LOT of the things that we eat:

  • Chinese Food
  • Fast Food Outlets
  • Chicken
  • Sausage
  • Beef
  • Parmesan
  • Dressings
  • Nestle Products
  • Doritos
  • Pringles
  • Soup Mixes
  • Potato Chips
  • Canned Tuna

If you are very cautious with the ingredients of your food, below is the main ingredients you need to stay away from:

  • Autolyzed Yeast
  • Calcium Caseinate
  • Gelatin
  • Glutamate
  • Glutamic Acid
  • Hydrolyzed Protein
  • Monopotasssium Glutamate
  • Monosodium Glutamate
  • Sodium Caseinate
  • Textured Protein
  • Yeast Extract
  • Yeast Food
  • Yeast Nutrient

It is getting harder & harder to avoid MSG regardless of where on planet Earth you live.

Its good to be aware, creating awareness for yourself with allow you to be alert with what you eat.

The main way that you will know whether or not your food has MSG in it is the more salty the food is, the more likely it is to contain MSG.

If you are looking at creating a MSG-free lifestyle, it’s good to steer near a plant based lifestyle, making sure that everything you purchase is fresh & organic – making sure that everything you buy is not packeted & either comes direct from the grown or a tree.

It’s easier said than done! (And, I know that!) But we all need to be aware what sort of life we are creating for ourselves if we continue to eat foods with MSG.

We are the only person in control of we put in our bodies, only we can make a change.

Each to their own, however if you are looking to crete a MSG-free lifestyle than the pointers that were mentioned in this post would be a great start for awareness.

Travel – Do I Buy A Drone?

To buy or not to buy, that is the question!

My favourite youtuber Bonny Rebecca put a video of the drone that we now has AND… I fell in love! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLXBDOO2LaE (the 6min mark is where you’ll see it!)

After doing some research, on average the drones have about 10 minute flying time & depending on the one you can buy it an either be controlled from your iPhone or you get a remote control, plus the distance is a big one, I have now seen how high and/or far they go – I think this is a big factor in buying this because I want to ensure that I am getting one with really good distance.

I would really like to share a lot of footage of this in my travel category for you all to see.

I have already taken so many photos when moving around Sydney, so I’d love to share some footage from the drone.

I think it’d be a good thing to get some advice, opinions & feedback before jumping into the unknown – ie which brand is better, the price range etc.

I will most certainly keep you all up the date on the decision I make & if I buy this I will def show you my training & practice footage (haha!)

Have a look at the featured image of this post, this is a drone in Wollongong of someone skydiving – I think the aerial shot is most certainly a wonderful view.

Daily Blog – 03/05/2016 // Getting Signs

Tonights blog is being written by the fire, it’s taken me a while to start off this blog as I was amazed with the fire, how fire works & how the flames burn the wood.

Todays blog is about ‘signs’ & how we are sent signs from God when something isn’t right or when we are being warned about something.

A certain scenario happened to me today (which I will not go into detail), but it was amazing how & why it happened.

It’s amazing to think how we are sent signs in certain circumstances, like today for example: a certain thing happened to me however I feel that this happened as it was a sign from God to be more aware that up ahead in the near future (today, tomorrow or next month) a very bad thing could’ve happened however it has been prevented because I got a warning sign from God today.

We need to raise our awareness as well as be more present in the moment that we are in & not distract ourselves from the situation we are undergoing at the time.

For example, when eating we need to be aware of the food that we are eating & enjoy the taste of the food we are eating also – how many of us eat but don’t enjoy our food? How many of us eat but are hungry 30 mins later? How many of us eat & eat to the point that we don’t know when we are full? Another example, when driving, we need to be aware of the road, the cars, the surroundings & the present moment. How many of us get to our destination but forget how we got there? How many of us drive & zone out whilst driving? How many of us gaze out the window & be alarmed when someone beeps at us because the light is green & we aren’t paying attention?

Being more present will only benefit because when we are more present we are more alert, more focused, more driven & more aware of the surroundings that we are in.

Its funny how things happen for a reason, they truly do (I believe so!) Things happen as a sign, as a warning, to show that a lesson has not been learnt yet, or as a save.

I will close this blog by saying:

Life is precious & we shouldn’t take life for granted, we are only here once & if we do it right, once is enough.
