Lets Relax

I always end up envisioning nightmare scenarios in my head and wondering what I’d do if every terrible situation that could occur actually happened. Although it’s a good idea to mentally prepare for potential interview questions or possibly hellish predicaments, I’ve discovered that you can’t actually predict the future (shocker) and that it’s better to give your brain a little bit of rest instead.

  1. Make a list of everything you absolutely need for the next day: notebook, pen, phone charger, water bottle, snacks, etc. Cross them off as you pack them in your bag. Being prepared will enable you to feel more relaxed.

  1. Choose an outfit and try it on. A lot of times, I’ll decide on an outfit at night, and it’s not until I get dressed in the morning that I realize it doesn’t actually look good. My mind feels more at ease if I already have my outfit planned ahead of time, especially for an interview.

  1. Make a green smoothie for breakfast. Preparing a (healthy) breakfast the night before gives me one less thing to worry about in the morning.

  1. Drink lots of water. No one likes a dehydration-induced headache on a big day.

  1. Slap on a face mask. I like to cleanse the heck out of my pores because I kind of want to wake up without pimples, ya know? Plus pampering yourself is a great way to relax.

  1. Netflix. I don’t think this needs explaining. Nothing better than unwinding with some Netflix.

  1. Turn off the electronics. Once you’ve finished your Netflix spree, turn everything off. Off.

  1. Do a little yoga. Or just rest in child’s pose for a while (you might even fall asleep because it’s so comfy. It’s all good).

  1. Try positive affirmations. Say to yourself, ‘Today I am going to have an amazing day’ or ‘I am trying my best & I am at my best’ Say it in the present tense, as if you are actually doing it. Remove all self-doubt, and just remember that you are totally capable of anything.

  1. Treat yourself. For me, a treat is a nice book w/ my candle burning. I am constantly spending my money on books & candles (my weakness)

And there you go! These ten things always help me feel prepared and relaxed before nerve wracking events. One last thing – go to bed at a reasonable time. Tired, baggy eyes aren’t going to make you feel confident in the morning. Just sayin’ 🙂

Wherever you are in the world, have a lovely day ❤

  1. I do the same daily. I stress myself so much that I have terrible dreams and then spend all day dissecting them and trying to figure out their meaning. Why? Lol anxiety is he worst. I’m always here to listen, okay.
