Self Care Challenge Day 13: Friendships

21 Day Self Care Challenge Day Thirteen

Hey Lovely Person!

Let’s get social!

We have talked a lot about being busy and improving work/life balance, and an important part of that is making and maintaining friendships.

We all need friends, it’s part of the human condition, and without connections with others we feel lonely.

In this instance, technology is a double edged sword: It’s easier than ever to keep in touch through texts and social media, but the quality of the contact is very much watered down.

So your task today, is to contact a friend. Either ring them for a chat, or arrange to meet for a catch up.

If you haven’t contacted someone for a while yes, you may feel awkward at first, but a genuine apology and then showing a real interest in their life will get the ball rolling again.

Many friendships can survive a period apart, what’s important is you don’t let anxiety stop you taking that step, and I bet soon you’ll be chatting away like it was only yesterday you last spoke!

So take a look in your contacts list, and give it a go. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Remember to explore your feelings in your journal.

Stay tuned for Day 14.

Wherever you are in the world, have a lovely day ❤

  1. I can’t believe this coincidence. I once had a best friend, 3 years ago to be precise, and we’ve never contacted each other for all this time ever since he transferred to another school (things happened and we’re drifting away from each other even when we were together). And I thought I’d never be able to talk to him again, bc I didn’t think that can. But my overly nosy dad, ringed him and gave me the phone. I was forced to talk to a person whom I never wanted to talk to again(way to go Dad) and I actually was able to speak with him unlike I contemplated it. I think we are starting all over again from the scratch. And right after that happened I’m reading this post.

  2. A very important subject indeed! Psalm 8:24 says “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Looking forward to calling a friend, and posting for your challenge, too, Lovely A (aka Amiega!) 🙂
